HPS Blog - What's Been Happening at the HPS?!?
Welcome to the HPS Blog - please check back here for information on what the club has been up to recently :-)
. . . . . . . .
February 10th
In spite of adverse weather conditions, a few brave HPS members still made it to Colin Ward’s retrospective on the work of Harold "Doc" Edgerton, followed by a look at the work of British photographer Terry O'Neil. We were pleased that those present were introduced to the work of these two photographers and were pleased to hear that the evening had spurred a couple of people to seek out more information regarding the photographers featured.
This meeting was also the deadline for the Winter Landscapes competition

January 27th
HPS member Stephen Meadows gave an extremely useful talk on backing up our precious photographs. Stephen discussed the merits of various different storage media and ways of using and subscribing to online backup services. Stephen’s talk was followed by the last in our series of Photoshop Basics tutorials by Andrew Bullen.
January 13th
The members took part in a practical session on 'Creating Abstract Images' - a number of techniques were discussed, but the focus remained on colour and form.
January 6th
(This was an extra meeting.)
Colin and Anna Ward gave a presentation on 'Getting the most out of Winter Landscapes' - members saw a selection of inspiring photos in readiness for our own Winter Landscapes competition.
December 16th
This was the date of our Christmas Social, and a good time was had by all who attended!
December 2nd
Colin Ward led us through a session on photographing animals; and answered many questions from the members gathered. December 4th saw the Heighington Christmas Festival and members were out and about taking photographs for the Sheepwash Times. Our stand in the Jubilee Hall gave us a great opportunity to show some of our members’ work and talk to the many visitors about our display.
November 18th
Our portrait night was well attended and our model, Charlotte, worked patiently as members took their pictures. Our thanks to Andrew Rudolf who led the evening. There are some examples of work done during that evening on our facebook page.
